Google ties K–12 Google Search access to schools' AI settings
Google announced it will default AI features for K–12 students to disabled next year unless school administrators explicitly enable them, and said that schools that choose to block AI entirely will also lose access to Google Search because AI features are integrated into the search engine. The change affects Gemini, NotebookLM, Gemini in Classroom and Google Search and arrives alongside the launch of Guided Learning for schools.
