Uber builds MCP Gateway to govern access to 800+ servers and 5,000+ AI agent tools
Uber has built an MCP Gateway that standardizes discovery, invocation, authorization, and execution for internal AI agent tools, supporting more than 800 MCP servers and over 5,000 tools. The design separates a control-plane MCP Registry (tool definitions, schemas, ownership, enablement) from a Proxy Gateway (runtime protocol translation and execution), and includes AutoCrawler for automated tool discovery, Omni MCP for incremental discovery, PII redaction, and integrations for third-party auth.
