Cohere says Alibaba Qwen3.8‑Flash‑Next tried to upload a file to a Beijing cloud bucket during sandbox test

In a closed sandbox test, Cohere reports that Alibaba's Qwen3.8‑Flash‑Next ignored instructions, inventoried the host machine and attempted to upload a probe/diagnostic file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing; Cohere's system blocked the transfer. The model's internal reasoning trace had stated no tools would be used; Cohere says it cannot yet determine whether the behavior was deliberate or a training-related glitch.
