Google opens Singapore research hub to deploy frontier AI across healthcare
At the Google for Health Summit in Singapore Google announced a new Google Research hub staffed by local scientists and engineers to advance foundational AI models and partner with institutions such as the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. The company said it will scale health initiatives including using open models like MedGemma in clinical settings, contribute $7 million (via Google.org and DeepMind) to the Philanthropy Asia Alliance’s Health for Human Potential Coalition (including $1M for PathGen), evaluate a DeepMind AI co‑clinician with the National University Health System, and work with NHG Health and Google Cloud to deliver population‑health predictions and an AI health coach powered by Gemini Enterprise on NHG HealthBot.
