Former Meta AI director Rohit Patel launches Ndoc, an AI-native Office/Workspace replacement

After eight years at Meta (including work at Meta Superintelligence Labs), Rohit Patel has left to found Ndoc, a startup he is pitching as an AI-native replacement for Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Ndoc combines presentation, narrative (analyses and citations), and a model/data tab (including Python scripts), exports documents as a single .ndoc.html file Patel plans to open source, and is built on a mix of open-source models with a small team and no disclosed funding.

Meta ties sale of new nonvoting shares to Zuckerberg staying in California

Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg finalized a Founder Alignment Agreement that links his ability to sell a new class of nonvoting shares to his continued residence where Meta’s headquarters are (effectively California); he can sell 20% immediately to cover potential taxes and the remaining 80% in chunks over eight years if he stays. The move responds to the proposed Proposition 40 one-time billionaire tax and is intended to keep Zuckerberg near Meta Superintelligence Labs and help raise funds for AI data centers without diluting his voting control.

Meta open-sources Muse SDK so hobbyists can build Muse hardware gadgets

Meta has open sourced code and SDKs for Muse, its AI agent, allowing developers and hobbyists to run Muse on devices like Raspberry Pi, ESP32-based boards, E Ink displays, HDMI sticks or small touchscreens. Meta is also producing 5,000 Muse Home Link units with a waitlist and warns builders to "proceed at your own risk."

Meta’s Muse mascot 'Jolly' criticized for childlike design and privacy risks

Meta’s adult-only AI assistant Muse is fronted by a cuddly mascot called Jolly; critics and youth advocates say the toy-like design may appeal to children, disarm adult users, and obscure data-collection risks. Meta says it verifies users’ ages and will offer a Muse Charm device and a ‘confidential’ virtual machine for Muse later in 2026; researchers and nonprofit groups warn the branding could still attract underage attention and reduce user scrutiny of privacy.

Meta’s Muse gives every user a free Ubuntu cloud VM

Meta says every user of its Muse agent gets a free, full-featured cloud computer running an Ubuntu Linux image that can run software, compile code, and browse the web. Meta describes a “Muse Secure VM” architecture with a Runtime Cell (user workspace) and an external Sentinel that separates sensitive system components and stored credentials; the app reached over 500,000 users in its first week and topped the Apple App Store.

Zero-day in Meta’s Muse for macOS let local processes reroute dictation; hotfix removed debug key

Security researcher Patrick Wardle disclosed a zero-day in Meta's Muse desktop client for macOS where an undocumented preference (endo_voyager_dictation_endpoint) could be overwritten by local, unprivileged processes to reroute microphone audio and steal Muse authentication tokens. Wardle published a proof-of-concept called not-a-mused; Meta released a hotfix that strips the internal debug preference from production builds but did not publicly coordinate a CVE.

Zero-day in Meta’s Muse AI assistant lets local apps seize user authentication tokens

Security researcher Patrick Wardle disclosed a zero-day in Meta’s new Muse assistant for macOS that lets any local app or terminal command access the token that authenticates a user’s Muse account by changing an undocumented setting (including the transcription endpoint). The flaw can give attackers full control of the assistant and its privileges; Amazon has also begun blocking Muse from making purchases on its site and Meta did not respond to inquiries.

Meta’s Muse app arrives on macOS and can act inside native apps

Meta has released Muse for Mac, a desktop version of its AI assistant that can interact with files, messages, calendar, notes and mail inside their native macOS apps. The app requires opt-in access and prompts for approval before performing sensitive actions; Muse previously launched on mobile and web this month and quickly climbed the U.S. App Store charts.

Meta launches Muse Image and previews Muse Video from Superintelligence Labs

Meta Superintelligence Labs released Muse Image, an agentic image-generation model that uses search and coding tools, self-refinement, and test-time compute scaling, and integrates with Muse Spark; Muse Image is available in the Meta AI app, on meta.ai, Instagram Stories in the US, and limited WhatsApp markets, with Facebook coming soon. Meta also previewed Muse Video (built on the same pretraining base) with native audio support and competitive fidelity; both models rank highly on Arena human-preference Elo and Muse Image embeds an invisible provenance signal called Content Seal for images created in Meta AI app and on meta.ai.

Meta launches Muse Spark 1.1, an agentic multimodal model with 1M‑token context

Meta Superintelligence Labs announced Muse Spark 1.1, an upgraded multimodal reasoning model optimized for agentic tasks (tool use, coding, and multimodal workflows). The model supports a 1 million‑token context window, improved multi‑agent orchestration and coding performance, is available in "Thinking" mode in the Meta AI app and on meta.ai, and is accessible to developers via a public preview of the new Meta Model API; Meta says it conducted extensive safety evaluations prior to deployment.
