Google.org backs World Bank's AI-enabled Open Network for Agriculture to reach 1M farmers

Google.org is providing $2.5 million to the World Bank Group (including the IFC) under the AgriConnect initiative to expand digital public infrastructure and build an AI-enabled Open Network for Agriculture (ONA) across multiple countries, aiming to help 1 million farmers access services by the end of 2027. ONA will connect public and private service providers so farmers can use a single platform for digital farmer IDs, credit, subsidy payments, markets and local-language voice-powered advice.

OpenAI uncovers Russian 'Dark Clark' and Iranian 'Bogus Bylines' influence operations and bans associated ChatGPT accounts

OpenAI's investigation found two influence operations that planted fabricated stories in legitimate news outlets rather than relying on social media: Russia-linked 'Dark Clark,' which pushed disinformation across Latin America via a fake think tank and fabricated audio/documents, and Iran-linked 'Bogus Bylines,' which used seven fake journalists to place nearly 100 articles worldwide. OpenAI said both operations used AI mainly for internal reporting and language adaptation and it banned the ChatGPT accounts involved; it rated Dark Clark category 5 on its Breakout Scale, the first category 5 case in 2.5 years.
