Emerald AI, Google, Nvidia and Anthropic form AI Energy Management Alliance to expand data-center grid access
Emerald AI has launched the AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA) with Google, Nvidia and Anthropic, together with utilities including AES, Constellation, National Grid and NRG Energy. AEMA plans to use Emerald AI’s demand-response software to coordinate data-center load reductions and shifts with utilities, which it says could free up as much as 100 gigawatts of additional data-center capacity on the grid; Emerald AI recently raised $150 million in a Series A led by Energize Capital and DCVC.
KEY POINTS
- Emerald AI has launched the AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA) with Google, Nvidia and Anthropic, together with utilities including AES, Constellation, National Grid and NRG Energy.
- AEMA plans to use Emerald AI’s demand-response software to coordinate data-center load reductions and shifts with utilities, which it says could free up as much as 100 gigawatts of additional data-center capacity on the grid; Emerald AI recently raised $150 million in a Series A led by Energize Capital and DCVC.
- If adopted at scale, coordinated demand-response software could materially increase how much data-center capacity grids can host without new generation, easing siting and expansion constraints for AI compute.
WHY IT MATTERS
If adopted at scale, coordinated demand-response software could materially increase how much data-center capacity grids can host without new generation, easing siting and expansion constraints for AI compute.
