The Trinity: capability-driven recursive self-improvement for multimodal agents (arXiv:2610.36077v1)

This paper introduces The Trinity, a recursive self-improvement framework for multimodal agents that couples procedurally generated simulated worlds with iterative "Harness" evolution via three roles — Creator, Explorer, and Evolver. It proposes Capability-Driven Real2Sim2Real and a capability/harness tree organization (plus a Capability-Aware Harness Router); the authors report mean performance improvements of 34 points across 28 training benchmarks and 26 points across 18 unseen benchmarks, including two real-world embodied tasks.

KEY POINTS

  1. This paper introduces The Trinity, a recursive self-improvement framework for multimodal agents that couples procedurally generated simulated worlds with iterative "Harness" evolution via three roles — Creator, Explorer, and Evolver.
  3. The approach addresses scalability bottlenecks in building heterogeneous verifiable environments and manual harness iteration by reorganizing tasks around shared capability requirements, enabling automated transfer and notable performance gains including real-world transfer.

WHY IT MATTERS
