Spotify removes 50 million AI-generated or spam tracks from recommendations
Spotify says it has removed more than 50 million tracks judged to be AI-generated “slop” or spam from its recommendation system over the past year and adjusted its algorithms to promote music by human artists. The company introduced an “AI Persona” badge for non-human identities (which it will not recommend), uses engagement signals, metadata and third-party detectors to flag content, and is partnering with Universal Music Group and Believe on an AI remix tool.
