R^2Orch: Recursive self-play orchestration (arXiv:2610.22740v1)

The paper introduces R^2Orch, a Recursive Self-Play Orchestration paradigm that trains an orchestrator with an inner self-play loop and an outer loop that withdraws skills based on a new Recursive Learnability objective. The method adds a Skill Withdrawal mechanism and a Proposer that selects tasks; experiments on twelve datasets (question answering, math, code, interactive tasks) report consistent improvements over baselines.

KEY POINTS

  1. The paper introduces R^2Orch, a Recursive Self-Play Orchestration paradigm that trains an orchestrator with an inner self-play loop and an outer loop that withdraws skills based on a new Recursive Learnability objective.
  2. The method adds a Skill Withdrawal mechanism and a Proposer that selects tasks; experiments on twelve datasets (question answering, math, code, interactive tasks) report consistent improvements over baselines.
  3. R^2Orch addresses key orchestration challenges (hand-designed curricula, advantage collapse, noisy evaluation) by combining self-play, a learnability objective, and skill withdrawal to push toward low-skill deployment and more robust orchestrators.

WHY IT MATTERS

R^2Orch addresses key orchestration challenges (hand-designed curricula, advantage collapse, noisy evaluation) by combining self-play, a learnability objective, and skill withdrawal to push toward low-skill deployment and more robust orchestrators.
