Satlyt's satellite AI software to fly on SpaceX launch alongside Google's Project Suncatcher
Satlyt, a startup co-founded by Rama Afullo, raised an $8M seed round and will fly its satellite software on a TakeMe2Space-built spacecraft launching on a SpaceX rocket alongside Google's Project Suncatcher prototype; the mission will run workloads for NASA, Stellerian, and TakeMe2Space. Satlyt has previously run Google DeepMind's Gemma model on a Momentus spacecraft (reducing an onboard error transmission by over 60%) and aims to create a shared orbital compute cloud across satellites next year.

- This shows a third-party software approach to running AI and processing in orbit, which can cut costly downlinks, speed anomaly resolution, and enable an orbital compute market independent of who builds the hardware.
