Safeworld emerges from stealth with >$12M seed to test generative-AI robot safety
Safeworld, founded by Safe AI lab director Ding Zhao with Kyle Wong and Simo Rachidi, emerged from stealth with a seed round of more than $12 million led by Shine Capital and a16z Speedrun. The startup builds simulation-based safety evaluations that run real robot control software against realistic human models to underwrite risks of generative-AI-driven robots and will work with partners such as Gritt Robotics.
KEY POINTS
- Safeworld, founded by Safe AI lab director Ding Zhao with Kyle Wong and Simo Rachidi, emerged from stealth with a seed round of more than $12 million led by Shine Capital and a16z Speedrun.
- The startup builds simulation-based safety evaluations that run real robot control software against realistic human models to underwrite risks of generative-AI-driven robots and will work with partners such as Gritt Robotics.
- Generative-AI control systems are probabilistic and unpredictable; a third-party simulation platform that validates robot behavior against realistic human scenarios could become a de facto safety standard for deploying robots at scale.
