Capcom plans to evolve RE Engine toward AI-assisted game creation
At the Capcom Open Conference RE: 2026, programmer Satoshi Ishida presented the REX Project roadmap to incrementally integrate AI into development workflows and gradually evolve the RE Engine into an "AI-generation game engine." Capcom has previously said it will not use AI-generated assets in released games, framing the work as focused on improving development efficiency (IGN provided a translation of Ishida's remarks).
