NVIDIA makes cuObject client/server (Server 2.0.0) generally available and ships SCADA Server SDK

NVIDIA announced the general availability of cuObject client and server libraries (cuObject Server 2.0.0), providing standardized APIs and an RDMA wire protocol for accelerated, zero-copy object storage access from GPUs. NVIDIA also released a SCADA Server SDK to let storage providers build servers that respond to GPU-initiated SCADA requests, expanded the xio-sig consortium to include cuObject alongside cuFile, and said Microsoft plans to join the xio-sig board while Google Cloud is evaluating participation; IBM Storage demonstrated a prototype integrating SCADA with IBM Storage Scale.

KEY POINTS

  1. NVIDIA announced the general availability of cuObject client and server libraries (cuObject Server 2.0.0), providing standardized APIs and an RDMA wire protocol for accelerated, zero-copy object storage access from GPUs.
  3. Standardized RDMA object/file APIs and a SCADA server SDK can reduce latency and CPU overhead for GPU-driven AI workloads and help industry interoperability across storage vendors and clouds.

WHY IT MATTERS

Standardized RDMA object/file APIs and a SCADA server SDK can reduce latency and CPU overhead for GPU-driven AI workloads and help industry interoperability across storage vendors and clouds.
