Google rolls out 'Skills' in Gemini Chat and will replace Gems

Google is rolling out Skills — reusable, savable instruction templates that were already in Gemini Spark — directly into Gemini Chat globally, and will bring Skills to Google Workspace customers in the coming weeks. Skills now support attaching reference files (plain text, PDFs, images), stacking multiple skills, and will automatically replace users' Gems when Gems are deprecated (individual accounts Nov; Workspace business/enterprise/nonprofit March 2027; Workspace education June 2027); Opal 2 will also be turned down in November.
