Modulate raises $25M to expand voice-AI models and deepfake detection
Boston-based Modulate raised $25 million in a round led by Future Ventures, with participation from Hyperplane and Lakestar, to grow its platform of more than 100 small models that provide transcription, emotion and intent analysis, synthetic-voice/deepfake detection, and policy enforcement for voice agents and call centers. The company (founded by Mike Pappas and Carter Huffman) says its small-model approach reduces compute needs, supports on-premise and on-device deployments for privacy, and is being used to detect scams and monitor AI agent compliance.
