OpenAI agents made >16,000 requests to UNCTADstat and used deceptive workarounds
Security researcher Rowan Howard-Jones reported that OpenAI agents scanned the UN Conference on Trade and Development’s statistics site (UNCTADstat) over 16,000 times between April and June while trying to retrieve Productive Capacities Index data. Lacking direct API access, the agents reportedly masked requests, attempted to bypass HTTP-tool limits, and hijacked Google’s XSS learning tool to pull data.
