arXiv paper: corrective feedback reduces discovery of specification counterexamples in Verus/Rust

The arXiv preprint (arXiv:2610.20676v1) shows that corrective correctness feedback can suppress discovery of programs that meet written contracts but violate intended behavior. On 12 Verus/Rust tasks across four model families under matched call budgets, independent no-feedback discovery more than doubles certified-witness yield versus IntentShield’s corrective-feedback loop (59.0% vs 27.1%); a phase-separated execution matches the aggregate yield without reusing responses, and preserving those witnesses yields stronger specification repair (Phase-Revised: 81.3% implementation success vs IS-Revised: 62.5%). The effect did not reproduce in available Dafny and Lean evaluations, suggesting an empirical boundary around the studied Verus/Rust workflow.

GitHub migrates Copilot runtime from Node.js/TypeScript to Rust via AI-assisted rewrite

GitHub replaced the runtime powering GitHub Copilot CLI, the Copilot app, and the Copilot SDK by migrating from a TypeScript/Node.js implementation to a native Rust runtime through an AI-assisted rewrite that touched more than 800,000 lines of production code. The incremental 14.5‑week migration (128 pull requests, 135 releases) cut measured client startup/session latency from 5.25 seconds to 292 milliseconds, enables embedding the runtime via a C ABI (reducing ~100 MB per client vs Node/V8), and combined AI-generated implementation with compilation, testing, and human review.

Perplexity replaces DynamoDB with in-house CobbleDB to cut batch-read latency 5x

Perplexity moved its core search serving tier from Amazon DynamoDB to CobbleDB, an internally developed Rust-based distributed key-value store, splitting durable storage (Pillar) from hot serving (CobbleDB) and using Lorry to aggregate batch files in S3. The change reportedly reduced median batch-read latency from 31.4 ms to 5.60 ms, cut p99 tail latency from 123 ms to 24.2 ms, sustained synthetic throughput up to 500k requests/sec, and lowered overall storage costs by at least 20%.

Graphify open-sources a tool to turn codebases and docs into multimodal knowledge graphs for AI coding

Graphify is an open-source project (MIT/Apache-2.0) launched in April 2026 that converts repositories, documentation and unstructured data into queryable multimodal knowledge graphs to support AI coding workflows. The project—which gained thousands of GitHub stars quickly—integrates parsers like tree-sitter, exposes graphs via Model Context Protocol servers, and recently added parser improvements (e.g., Terraform attribute preservation, cross-file Rust/Kotlin/C++ resolutions); first-party benchmarks and community feedback show promise but also early adoption friction.

GitHub rewrote the Copilot agent runtime in Rust with Copilot agents

GitHub migrated the Copilot agent runtime from a TypeScript/Node.js/V8 implementation to over 800,000 lines of production Rust. Most of the Rust code was authored by AI agents via the GitHub Copilot app and CLI across 128 pull requests; the migration shipped incrementally, reportedly improving runtime performance by orders of magnitude and reducing startup and memory overhead for many Microsoft/GitHub products that share the runtime via the Copilot SDK.
