White House, Trump and tech CEOs sign a 'morally binding' AI code of conduct

President Donald Trump and several tech CEOs signed an AI code of conduct at the White House that the administration describes as "morally binding" and not legally enforceable. The code calls for independent third‑party auditors to verify models "operate as intended" and an independent board to oversee internal safety checks; signatories reportedly include Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI's Greg Brockman, Nvidia's Jensen Huang, and Elon Musk.

White House asks OpenAI and Anthropic to withhold new models from U.K. testers pending U.S. review

Politico reports the White House, via the Office of the National Cyber Director, asked OpenAI and Anthropic to delay sharing new AI models with the U.K.'s AI Safety Institute (AISI) until U.S. agencies can review them; Anthropic has restricted Claude Mythos 5.1 access to U.S. organizations. The report notes AISI has had early access to frontier models (including tests of OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra) and that the U.S. Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) currently lacks a permanent director and has limited staff.
