MIT researchers publish book 'How AI Sees the City' on visual AI for urban studies
Researchers at the MIT Senseable City Lab have published How AI Sees the City (Routledge), a book that surveys methods, applications, benefits and risks of visual AI for urban studies — from identifying vehicle types and estimating emissions from traffic cameras to measuring greenery and public-space use — and highlights privacy and fairness concerns. The book's authors include Fábio Duarte, Martina Mazzarello, Carlo Ratti and Fan Zhang and place visual AI in a historical continuum of urban visual analysis.
