OpenAI launches Decisions API (public beta) using gpt-6-luna

OpenAI introduced the Decisions API in public beta, a service that evaluates text, images, or both and returns structured outputs (yes/no probabilities, category picks, or scale ratings). It uses only gpt-6-luna, is roughly ten times faster than the Responses API, charges $0.10 per million input tokens (output tokens free), supports zero-data retention and HIPAA-compliant use in the US and Europe, and comes alongside a simplified paid tiering (Build, Launch, Grow) with $500/$5,000/$200,000 monthly thresholds.

LEGO-Anything agents generate editable 3D scenes from single photos but misjudge correctness

Researchers at the University of Maryland and AWS introduced LEGO-Anything, an Image-to-Code approach where coding agents iteratively write Blender code to reconstruct an editable 3D scene from a single photo. They also released LEGO-Bench (208 images from 104 simulated scenes, 443 assets) to evaluate validity, reconstruction, and appearance, finding GPT-6 Astra achieved the best scores (≈53.4% indoor, 39.6% outdoor) but models struggle with self-assessment and geometric accuracy; a no-training extension, LEGO-Plugin, fixes some failure modes and substantially improves weaker agents.

OpenAI reports ChatGPT reaches 1.2 billion weekly users as ARR nears $70B

At DevDay OpenAI said ChatGPT now reaches more than 1.2 billion users weekly and reported over 35 million weekly ChatGPT Work and Codex users plus 2.5 million businesses using its products; Axios also reported OpenAI is nearing a $70 billion annualized revenue run rate. The company attributes growth to enterprise sales and aggressive price competition around its GPT-6 family (including newly launched GPT-6.1-Sol), while rival Anthropic’s ARR was reported at about $65 billion and it may be preparing an IPO as soon as November.

OpenAI says most research is focused on GPT‑7 and beyond

Boris Power, OpenAI's Head of Applied Research, told THE DECODER that roughly 80–90% of the company's research is aimed at future model generations such as GPT‑7, GPT‑8 and beyond, because those generations deliver the largest value; incremental within-generation updates are treated as short-term, tactical bets. Power also said user onboarding remains a major challenge — future models (GPT‑6 and later) should better surface capabilities and accept goals more naturally than current versions.

Meta’s Muse reportedly outpacing ChatGPT’s early mobile launch

TechCrunch’s Equity podcast says Meta’s personal AI agent Muse is reportedly outperforming ChatGPT’s early mobile-launch numbers and is slated for deployment on smart glasses and a Tamagotchi-style wearable. The episode also covers near-simultaneous model updates from Anthropic (Opus 5.5) and OpenAI (GPT-6 updates) and broader implications for consumer AI strategy and startup funding.

OpenAI’s Astra and Anthropic’s Opus 5 used to crack long-unsolved Enigma messages

Developer Carter Leffen says he instructed OpenAI’s newest model, Astra (referred to as GPT‑6 Astra), to search archival databases and successfully recovered the plaintext of an Enigma message that had been unresolved since 2005, a solution later validated by archivist Frode Weirerud. Separately, cryptanalyst Jack Willis reports using Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5 to break a different unsolved Enigma message; Weirerud says seven Enigma messages remain unbroken.

Google DeepMind says Gemini 4 is in refinement and nearing release

In his first media interview as DeepMind leader, Koray Kavukcuoglu said Gemini 4 is in a refinement stage and that Google aims to release an early post-training output 'much earlier' than the end of 2026. The comments follow a leadership change at DeepMind and come after Google’s last flagship, Gemini 3 (Nov 2025); competitors OpenAI (GPT-6) and Anthropic (Mythos) have released newer models.

OpenAI's GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna now generally available on Amazon Bedrock

OpenAI's GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are now generally available on Amazon Bedrock, running on Bedrock's high-performance inference engine and offered at lower API pricing than their GPT-5.6 predecessors. GPT-6 Sol is positioned for demanding, recurring development and operations tasks with improved coding, reasoning and factuality (OpenAI reports ~50% fewer factual mistakes vs GPT-5.6 Sol), while GPT-6 Luna is optimized for high-volume, repeatable workloads like extraction, classification and summarization; Bedrock supports explicit prompt caching plus IAM-based access control and invocation auditing.

SpaceXAI releases Grok 4.7 — faster, cheaper model for coding and knowledge work

SpaceXAI released Grok 4.7, a new base-model upgrade positioned as its most capable model for coding and knowledge work; it reportedly uses a larger base model, longer RL training focused on long-running tasks, and an entirely new safeguard stack. The company says Grok 4.7 matches the price and speed of Grok 4.6 while improving verification, longer-context handling, document/presentation generation, benchmark performance (CursorBench 4.0, GDPval, AA Briefcase), and safety metrics (LatchBio biosafety 62.4%, HackerBench v0.3 allowing 3.3% risky prompts); it is available in Cursor, Grok Build, the Grok API, third-party harnesses and cloud platforms, priced from $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, with an optional faster (2x) variant at double the price.
