Apple is adding an AI assistant to its productivity apps Pages, Keynote, and Numbers that can draft and restructure text, design and animate slides, and analyze and organize data; the assistant uses models from Apple and OpenAI and the apps now support the Model Context Protocol, rolling out in beta on devices compatible with Apple Intelligence running iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 or later.
With iOS 27, Apple enabled Apple Intelligence for HomeKit Secure Video, bringing AI-generated text descriptions, notable-event summaries, cross-camera stitching, and natural-language search to compatible cameras; The Verge tested these features against Amazon Ring and Google Nest doorbells and found AI alerts generally more useful but noted Apple’s Apple Intelligence requires higher-tier iCloud Plus subscriptions and can cost more than competitors. The author tested an Aqara doorbell on HomeKit and compared it to Ring Wired Doorbell Pro and Google Nest Doorbell 2K.
US owners of iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 purchased between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025 can file a claim in Apple’s $250 million class-action settlement over delayed AI-enabled Siri; claims must be submitted by December 21, 2026 and estimated payouts are about $25 per eligible device (potentially up to $95 depending on the number of claimants). The suit said WWDC 2024 previews created an expectation that AI features would arrive with the iPhone 16, Apple later delayed the Siri AI rollout (which arrived with iOS 27) and denies wrongdoing.
According to TechCrunch AI, Apple has introduced a major overhaul of Siri in iOS 27 that reportedly changes how useful the assistant feels in everyday use. The report frames the update as a significant update to Siri after a long delay.
