US and China begin talks on AI incident-notification mechanism
US and Chinese officials have resumed discussions under a proposed “US China AI Dialogue” to design a mechanism for notifying each other of AI incidents that could threaten national security, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said; the talks follow discussions after President Trump’s May Beijing visit and did not address recent US export controls.
