Alibaba releases Qwen-Image-2.1: open-weight 7B image model that the team says outperforms closed models

Alibaba's Qwen AI team published Qwen-Image-2.1, an open-weight image-generation and editing model with a 7 billion-parameter visual component that the team claims outperforms most closed models on their internal benchmark; independent evaluations are still pending.
