Midterm voters and local ballots impose new limits on data-center expansion
Across U.S. midterm contests and 45 local ballot measures, voters and some winning candidates moved to restrict data‑center development; Redbud Consulting reported that results in 33 local measures would limit or ban new facilities, and winners who back moratoriums include Texas governor‑elect Gina Hinojosa and Michigan Senate‑elect Abdul El‑Sayed. The results signal heightened local and state pressure on data‑center builders and hyperscalers that power AI workloads.
