Rivian expands JV with Volkswagen to license its AI voice assistant
Rivian said it is licensing elements of its in-house AI voice assistant technology to Volkswagen Group as an expansion of their up-to‑$5.8 billion joint venture; licensing fees, payment terms, and target VW models were not disclosed. Rivian’s assistant, which began rolling out to R1S, R1T and R2 models in September 2026, could appear on VW’s low-cost ID EVERY1 under the joint venture.
