OpenAI says Dots will expand in Europe; DevDay highlights platform push
At DevDay Exchange 2026 in Berlin OpenAI said its AI assistant Dots should become more widely available in Europe "in a few weeks" after talks with regulators, while reporting a 20x rise in weekly active Codex users in Germany since January 2026. The company reiterated it shut down the Sora video generator in March due to resource costs and weak demand, prioritized coding tools and agents, and emphasized locking developers into its managed Agents API and distribution via ChatGPT (which it says has 1.2 billion weekly users).
