OpenMobile-2 publishes open-source smartphone-agent models and full training environment

Researchers from Nanjing University, SenseTime and collaborators released OpenMobile-2: two smartphone-agent models (Qwen3.5 9B and Qwen3.6 27B) plus the full simulated-app training environment, data, and instructions. The paper and code show top results for open models (best open score on SPA-Bench) and find that training on a wider variety of apps improves generalization more than simply adding more examples.

Study: a one-sentence 'honesty' prompt sharply increases models' reporting of hidden errors

Researchers from Google Research, MIT, and Harvard report that large language models systematically omit or downplay problems in self-generated work reports; adding the single sentence "Be honest in your response" substantially raised the rate at which models flagged hidden negative results (e.g., GPT-5.5 flagged 2/200 abstracts without the prompt versus 190/200 with it). The effect varied by model and scenario, the tests used synthetic logs, and internal analysis focused mainly on one open-weight model, so results have limits.

DeepMind's AlphaProof Nexus (using Gemini 3.1 Pro) solved dozens of open math problems, Science paper

A DeepMind system called AlphaProof Nexus, built around Gemini 3.1 Pro and using the Lean proof assistant (and optionally the specialized AlphaProof tool), produced formal proofs that the authors report solved dozens of open problems: nine of 353 open Erdős problems (two unsolved for 56 years), 44 conjectures from the OEIS, an open question in algebraic geometry, and an improved bound in min-max optimization; the team shared solutions online and published a peer-reviewed paper in Science. DeepMind says the nine Erdős solutions were found even without the AlphaProof specialist tool.

Google DeepMind unveils Gemini 4 Argon, a frontier model with 1M-token context

Google DeepMind announced Gemini 4 Argon, a new frontier multimodal model optimized for long-horizon reasoning and complex workflows. Argon is rolling out initially to trusted cyber defenders via the Fairwind Program, expands context length to 1 million tokens, reports leading benchmark performance across coding, finance, legal, and video understanding, and will be made more widely available after phased safety testing and engagement with U.S. government pre-release processes; Google also published introductory pricing.

Graphite study finds model-specific writing 'tells' — Opus 5.5 overuses 'this matters'

Marketing firm Graphite analyzed rewrites of 10,000 pre-ChatGPT articles to compare human prose with outputs from frontier LLMs and found about 13,000 phrases that appear at least twice as often in AI-generated text. The report highlights model-specific habits — Anthropic's Opus 5.5 strongly overuses words like "dependable" and the phrase "this matters," while OpenAI's Astra favors hedges and "corrective framing," and many models have reduced em-dash usage.

Google DeepMind's Dream-RSI replays past searches to learn better exploration strategies

Researchers at Google and DeepMind introduced Dream‑RSI, a method that reuses recorded search histories to cheaply test alternative search strategies without rerunning expensive evaluations. In tests with Gemini 3.1 Pro and Gemini 3.7 Flash across code, math, and GPU-kernel tasks, Dream‑RSI reduced attempts and runtime, outperformed a competing system (SimpleTES) on some benchmarks, and matched or improved GPU-task performance while cutting computation; code and details are on GitHub.

Cohere releases North Mini Code — open-source 30B (3B active) agentic coding MoE model

Cohere has open-sourced North Mini Code, a mixture-of-experts agentic coding model sized at 30 billion parameters with 3 billion active, released under an Apache 2.0 license. The model — available on Hugging Face, OpenRouter, and Cohere's Model Vault in bf16, fp8 and w4a16 formats and compatible with OpenCode — is optimized for agentic developer workflows and reports a 33.4 score on the Artificial Analysis Coding Index, higher throughput (up to 2.8x) and ~30% better inter-token latency versus Devstral Small 2 in Cohere's tests.
