OpenAI Startup Fund and Founders Fund back Coherence Neuro with $45M seed to develop brain implant for detecting/treating cancer
OpenAI’s venture arm (the OpenAI Startup Fund) and Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund are part of a $45 million seed round for Coherence Neuro, a startup building an implant that records and stimulates brain signals to detect and potentially treat tumors. Coherence has done brief intraoperative recordings in a small number of patients, plans longer implants and clinical trials for glioblastoma, and says OpenAI will not have access to its brain or health data.
