Anthropic study: Claude agents log six times more hours as junior technical hiring falls
An internal Anthropic study says the share of junior technical roles fell from 21% to 14% since early 2025 (new-hire junior share from 27% to 9%), while Claude-based AI agents were logging six times as many work hours as humans by August 2026; the company reports productivity gains across engineering, data science, legal, sales, recruiting and accounting. The study cautions Anthropic is an AI-heavy special case and external researchers warn this pattern could shrink training opportunities for future skilled workers, with broader effects emerging over the next decade-plus.
