StudentSim: personalized AI student simulators and StudentSimEval benchmark for testing AI tutors
StudentSim is a research system that trains personalized AI student simulators from publicly available, de-identified learner records to model how individual students answer questions and respond to tutor guidance. The work also introduces StudentSimEval, a benchmark spanning chess, second-language English writing, and mathematics; the research team reports that StudentSim outperforms leading baselines and is intended for research use only, not classroom deployment or teacher replacement.
