Engineers used OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra to drive a Toyota Corolla to In‑N‑Out
Three engineers (Aditya Ramabadran, Simon Mahns, Tobias Gessler) linked a laptop chat to cameras and the Corolla’s power steering and asked OpenAI’s GPT‑6 Astra to navigate a 2024 Toyota Corolla to an In‑N‑Out drive‑thru; a safety driver kept a foot over the brake. The team also developed a simple DrivingBench parking-course benchmark (only Astra completed it, and slowly), and they tested other models (SpaceXAI’s Grok, Anthropic) during the experiments.
