Microsoft publishes Daron Acemoglu's forecast that AI will raise GDP by ~1.5% over 10 years
Microsoft posted an essay by Nobel laureate economist Daron Acemoglu on its blog The Humanist Review of AI in which he forecasts AI will raise global GDP by about 1.5% over a decade and replace at most 5% of jobs, while warning that productivity gains depend on firms reorganizing, upskilling workers, and building easily deployable applications rather than just larger models.
