Anthropic launches 'Mods' plugin system for Claude Code to let developers extend the tool
Anthropic introduced "Mods" for Claude Code — JavaScript/TypeScript functions that run inside the coding tool and hook into events like prompts, tool calls, and UI rendering so developers can add panels, intercept calls, or create new commands. Mods run with the user's permissions (not sandboxed), work in the CLI and desktop app and partially in the VS Code extension; sample Mods are on GitHub, organizations can restrict which Mods load, and the first built-in Mod is "You Should Know."
