AWS CEO warns against blocking AI data centers and unveils 'Data Center Commitment'
AWS CEO Matt Garman published a >3,000-word blog urging communities and policymakers not to block AI data centers, arguing moratoriums (he said 100+ are being considered) would harm US economic and national-security competitiveness. The post sets out an Amazon 'Data Center Commitment' — including pledges on jobs, local energy impacts and more than $1 billion in community support — and Amazon says it no longer uses nondisclosure agreements with government agencies, according to company comments.
