OpenAI PR tried to move on during Sam Altman interview when Vanity Fair raised a ChatGPT user's suicide

During a Vanity Fair interview, reporter Mark Guiducci asked OpenAI CEO Sam Altman about a New York Times essay by Laura Reiley describing her daughter's conversations with ChatGPT before she took her own life. Florida AG asks court to block ChatGPT from posing as human and interacting with minors

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a motion for a temporary injunction seeking to stop OpenAI from giving ChatGPT human-like traits, using first-person language and simulated emotions, and making the system available to minors; the filing also asks the court to bar OpenAI from developing new models without third-party-approved safety guardrails. The court has not yet ruled; OpenAI says it has paused training of its most capable models and is open to working with Florida on industry guidelines.
